Goddess Varamahalakshmi
Goddess Varamahalakshmi is revered in Hindu tradition as the embodiment of wealth, prosperity, and well-being. She is a form of Goddess Lakshmi, who is widely worshiped across India for bestowing good fortune and prosperity. Varamahalakshmi, specifically, is honored during the Varamahalakshmi Vrat, a sacred observance dedicated to invoking her blessings.
It is believed that the Varalakshmi form of the goddess bestows boons and fulfills all the desires of her devotees. Hence, she is known as Vara + Lakshmi, meaning the Goddess Lakshmi who bestows boons. Women, in particular, perform the Varamahalakshmi Puja with great devotion, seeking her blessings for their families’ health, wealth, and happiness. This festival, celebrated primarily in the southern states of India, is marked by elaborate rituals, traditional prayers, and the offering of various auspicious items to please the goddess. Through this observance, devotees believe that Goddess Varamahalakshmi blesses them with a life filled with abundance and joy.
About Varamahalakshmi Puja/Festival
Varamahalakshmi Puja is observed on the Friday during Shravana Shukla Paksha, a few days before Rakhi and Shravana Purnima. This fasting and puja are observed by both men and women, although it is mainly performed by married women in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
Varamahalakshmi Festival is an auspicious day to c and seek blessings from Goddess Lakshmi. Worshiping Goddess Varamahalakshmi on this day is believed to be equivalent to worshiping Ashtalakshmi, the eight goddesses of wealth (Sri), earth (Bhu), learning (Saraswati), love (Priti), fame (Kirti), peace (Shanti), pleasure (Tushti), and strength (Pushti).
